Ana Scripucariu-Ochiai
Born in 1992 in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. Ana Scripcariu-Ochiai is a mixedmedia artist who sensitively explores ways to take root in her two home countries of Japan and Romania under the theme, "connections between land and people.” She performs cultural and anthropological field work including documentation of indigenous festivals and folk religions in various parts of Japan and abroad. In recent years, she has been involved in the field of primatology as an extension of her work.
Ana Scripcariu-Ochiai graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts with a degree in Oil Painting at the top of her class and as a valedictorian of the Faculty of Fine Arts, where she also completed an MA in Global Art Practice. She is now enrolled in the doctoral program in sculpture at Tokyo University of the Arts.
She has had exhibition in Japan and internationally: at The Museum of Modern Art, Saitama, Japan (2023, 2020-2021); The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Romania (2020); Hoi An, Vietnam (2019); Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Tokyo, Japan (2019); Chambord, Paris, France (2017) etc. Currently working in Romania as an overseas researcher of the Pola Art Foundation in 2022.

《Mirrors》は、2019 年から発表している絵画シリーズて。「土地と人の結びつき」というテーマのもと、国内外各地で土着の風習や信仰に関するフィールドワークに取り組んできた延長上に霊長類学に関心を持った。それまで人間の営みの中から見出そうとしていたも のを、様々なサルの中に見つけたこと をきっかけに、「サルの中にヒトをみて、ヒトの中にサルをみる」というリフレクション を描く。どのようにして異なる種の猿が同じ森に共存しているのか、なぜ種によってヒエラルキー構造のルールが違うのか、私たちはどれだけ違っていてどれだけ同じなのか ......サルの世界を見ているつもりが、反射するように人間の世界やヒトの成り立ちが見えてくる。
